We keep in mind that the founding Chairman of the Association, Mr. Bin-Yan Yang established this Association with the initial purpose to enhance the technical level of the whole chemical tape industry in Taiwan and to assist the government in creating an exceptional industrial environment. Thanks to the trust of the members and the board of directors and supervisors, I am entrusted with the position of the Chairman. I promise to pass on the founding Chairman’s objectives and make them prosper.

The Taiwanese tape industry has experienced many economic shocks. After Taiwan’s accession to the WTO in 2002, the customs import tariffs have dropped drastically and the Taiwanese tape industry faced severe competition with the international tape industry. In addition, due to the increasing environmental awareness, anti-pollution fees ascend continuously. Many companies in the electronics industry and manufacturing industry are moving out of Taiwan, causing serious shrinkage in the domestic market. The tape industry and the Association all face serious threats.

Nevertheless, the Association has gone through successful transformation under the leadership of former Chairman along Taiwan’s economic transformation. After decades of hard work, the Association now plays a crucial role in various industries, such as the electronics, automotive, construction, daily necessities industries, … Taiwanese adhesive products are found in many advanced electronics processes, vital part components and materials.

In recent years, smart technology has advanced rapidly, the information has changed rapidly, making the issues of short supply chains in industries, the hike in raw material prices, environmental protection, and sustainable circular economy even more critical. Being confronted with these common issues, the Association will cooperate with the government in the promotion and implementation of governmental policies, to establish a more competitive environment and technological innovation in the industry.

From an international perspective, the Association will assist stakeholders of the tape industry to work together, provide support to the production further up or down the stream. As the platform that connects the Taiwanese tape industry to the international level, the Association proactively performs information and technical communications with global adhesives and sealants organizations in order to stay in pace with international industries, governments, universities and institutes.

In view of international trends and Taiwan’s development, it is imperative for Taiwanese industries to transform and upgrade themselves to satisfy the needs in the infrastructure, electronics, optoelectronics, communications, biotechnology and other high-tech industries. However, ESG is already a global business evaluation indicator. The Association gathers information about environmental ecology, social responsibility and business management, and work together with the industry to balance business operation and global environmental protection, hoping to contribute to the sustainable operation of member companies, and to contribute to the national society with the purpose of innovative and sustainable development.
